Trauma and Relationship Therapy in Brooklyn, NY that Honors Your Story

All your life you've had to be strong.

Often being "strong" meant staying quiet even when someone hurt you. Or pushing through while your body was signaling its need for care or rest.

These signals are starting to get louder, coming in the form of anxiety, big emotions, or difficulty communicating with your partner, family, or friends. You're tired of ignoring the signals. Tired of having to be strong.

In trauma and relationship therapy, you can finally lay down all that you've been carrying and stop to listen to what these signals are telling you.

By slowing down and listening, we'll harness your strength in a new way: to help you heal, forge genuine connections, and learn to trust yourself again.

You Could Benefit from Trauma and Relationship Therapy If...

  • You've lived through experiences where you felt unsafe, unprotected, or unloved. You sense that these experiences are continuing to affect you, but you don't know exactly how  or how to move on from them.

  • You feel like you're always "on." You want to slow down and rest, to relax and be yourself, but you're afraid that people won't accept you if you let your guard down.

  • You carry negative beliefs and thoughts about yourself. You'd never talk to someone you love the way you talk to yourself. But that inner voice is so familiar by now that it feels impossible to challenge.

  • You feel things really deeply. Your emotions can feel big and overwhelming. You fear you're just "too sensitive" — when the truth is that you've been through a lot and your system is expressing its need for care.

  • You feel like you're "too much" for others... or "not enough." Your fears about how you are with others can cause you to isolate, or to overextend yourself. You often feel alone, even when surrounded by people you care about.

  • You notice patterns that repeat themselves in your life and in your relationships. You keep finding yourself in the same kinds of situations, having the same kinds of reactions. You want to stop the repetition and turn the page on a fresh chapter.

Trauma and Relationship Therapist in Brooklyn, NY

Virtual therapy available throughout New York State

Hello! I'm Sophie, a psychotherapist and New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker (that's what the letters stand for). I specialize in supporting people as they work through the impacts of trauma and relationship difficulties. I've received post-graduate training in trauma studies, as well as training in EMDR, IFS, somatic therapy, CBT/DBT, and EFT for couples.

I'm passionate about helping my clients release historical burdens, develop security and satisfaction in their relationships, and learn to show up in their lives with greater ease and authenticity.

I believe that all of us have inherent inner wisdom and capacity to heal. In our work, we'll focus on connecting you with your inner healing force, while also arming you with tangible tools to help manage what's most challenging you outside the therapy room.

If you are struggling with wounds from the past or dissatisfying relationships in the present, you are not alone. Support is out there and healing is possible.

All of this resonates...
What are the next steps?

1.) Book a free consultation call

I offer free 15 minute consultation calls to all prospective clients. These calls provide an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about my practice or the therapy process. It also gives us a chance to begin getting to know one another and ensure that it feels like a good match. To book a free consultation call with me click here!

2.) Schedule your first session

During our consultation call we'll discuss scheduling and find a weekly day and time to meet. I typically recommend weekly sessions, as they better allow you to get the most out of therapy and make your desired progress towards your goals. Once we schedule a session, I will email you some intake forms to fill out and provide you with either a Zoom link (if meeting virtually) or directions to my office (if meeting in person).

3.) Start your therapy journey

In the first sessions we'll gather info about your history, and solidify goals for therapy. I'll also share information to help you understand what you've been struggling with and how we can alleviate those struggles. I aim for therapy to feel like a collaboration, so I'll leave room for you to ask questions and share thoughts or feelings. One way to think of these early sessions is as time for us to create your healing map. The ground we cover in the  beginning will serve as the blueprint for the rest of your therapy journey.
